LVRG Program Committee Meeting on May 1, 2000 at ARVO,
Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Present: Susan Leat, Anton Verezen, Patti Fuhr, Susana Chung, Don Fletcher, Gislin Dagnelie, Ron Schuchard (on behalf of LVRGNet)

Introduction of the New Program Committee Members

• The two newly elected Program Committee members were Gislin Dagnelie (Johns Hopkins University) and Jan Lovie-Kitchin (Queensland University of Technology).

Treasurer's Report

• The account balance was $1403.18 after the 1999 ARVO meeting.
• We received the following donations during the year:
  $250 from Mattingly International (May 24, 1999)
  $250 from Roger Cummings (July 7, 1999)
• We spent the following on the Atwell Award:
  $500 check sent to Jens Reinhard
  $118.58 for making the plaque
  $18.87 postage for sending the plaque to Jens Reinhard
• We received $225 advance payments for the 2000 ARVO social, and we earned $4.85 interest on the LVRG savings account.
• We anticipated that the balance after this year's ARVO social would be $490.58

Website (LVRGNet)

• Edited minutes of Program Committee meetings would be posted on the Web site, to make the administration of the LVRG more transparent.
• We decided to put links on the Web page for Sponsors. We also talked about lists of major and minor sponsors to distinguish those who give more than others. We would contact Mark Bullimore and Roger regarding previous sponsors and also regarding who had been contacted in previous years but did not sponsor.
• We would send out a message to members to encourage them that interesting questions on LV can be posted on LVRGNet, similar to the way that CVnet used to be. Perhaps one of us should start the ball rolling with a question.

Atwell Award

• This year we received 12 nominations, one of whom was listed as a second author on a poster. Because we had discussed in previous year that only first authors on any presentations are eligible for consideration, we decided that this nominee was not going to be considered for this year's Atwell Award.
• All the Atwell Award nominees were invited to attend the ARVO Social, and that the Social would be free for them.

Election of Program Committee Officers

• Sue Leat suggested that we should consider electing a Chair-Elect to assist the Chair, as well as to provide some continuity within the Program Committee. We all agreed to this suggestion.
• We also accepted the motion of electing a Chair of Sponsorship, to assist in contacting possible sources of support and sponsorship for LVRG.
• The following officers were nominated and elected:
  Chair - Susana Chung
  Chair-Elect - Paul Beckmann
  Treasurer - Patti Fuhr
  Secretary - Olga Overbury
  Chair of Sponsorship - Anton Verezen
