Background and Biography:
Katharina Echt, Ph.D. is a Research Health Scientist at the Center. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Life-Span Developmental Psychology from the University of Georgia and holds a Certificate in Gerontology. Her research includes studies of the underlying mechanisms driving age-related differences in health management capacity, including the development and testing of interventions for medication management and health literacy. Dr. Echt's research has also involved the development of directives for the production and evaluation of usable technologies for health promotion with older adults. Her areas of expertise include cognitive aging, vision and aging, and human factors. Dr. Echt is a Faculty Scholar at the Emory University Center for Health in Aging, a Consulting Psychologist with GeroTech Corporation, and a member of Emory's Health Literacy Workgroup. She is a member of the American Psychological Association; Division 20--Adult Development and Aging, the Gerontological Society of America; Technology and Aging Group, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society.
