Teresa Anderson is a Lab Technician working with Dr. Katie Bales in the Pardue lab, located at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. She graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Chemistry/Biochemistry. Teresa joined the Pardue Lab as an undergraduate researcher in 2022, and transitioned to a full-time lab technician role in 2026. She is applying to medical school, with a long-term goal of pursuing pediatric neurosurgery.

Research Interests:

Teresa's research under Dr. Bales spans several projects, including a clinical exercise study in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), an exercise and dry AMD animal model study, and an environmental exposure study examining the effects of PFOS and nanoplastics on retinal health. She is also currently helping run a sodium iodate-induced retinal degeneration (SIIRD) dosing and exercise study. Her research techniques include OCT/OCTA retinal imaging, electroretinography (ERG), retinal flat mount dissections, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy with 3D image analysis (Imaris, ImageJ).
